There is much written in law that affects what one can and cannot do to a tree. These laws can have a bearing on what advice you may give to someone in your community. For example the law governing trees covered by a Tree Preservation Order, or trees in a Conservation Area. There are rights and responsibilities associated with ownership of a tree, as well as common law rights for those who do not own a tree.

It may help you to become familiar with some of these laws, again so you can point people in the right direction.
